[By Kyungsik Yoon] Gyeongnam FC defeated Gangwon FC on the strength of Marcão's fifth and sixth goals.
Gyeongnam won the K-League 4th round 1-3 against Gangwon held at Songam Sports Center in Chuncheon at 4 p.m. on Sunday.
Gyeongnam has returned to the single lead with four wins and 12 points. Marcão led the way in scoring. On the other hand, Gangwon stayed in fourth place with its first loss of the season.
In the beginning of the first half, Gangwon took the lead in the offense with shots by Diego, Park Jung-soo, and Kim Young-shin. Gyeongnam was able to overcome the critical moments thanks to Sohn Jung-Hyun's excellent performance.
However, with a bad news from Gangwon that Chung Suk-hwa got injured at the 24th minute in the first half, Gangwon deployed Hwang Jin-seong in order to try to overcome the crisis.
At 39th minutes in the first half, Marcão score the first goal. The Brazilian striker made a powerful header on the cross from Negueba to shake the net of Gangwon.
Diego of Gangwon got a penalty kick at 13 minutes into the second half but VAR, the video assisted referee, showed that it was invalid. After missing the chance to tie, Gangwon put in Deric at the 15th minute in the second half. At the 20 minutes into the second half, taking the pass from Chung Jo-kook Deric scored the equalizer at the penalty area.
But the joy in Gangwon did not last long. Marcão scored the second goal after taking the pass from Lee Jae-myung at 24 minutes into the second half.
The morale in Gangwon has dropped. They put in Lee Keun-ho at the 30th minute, but soon after Lee started running, Bae Ki-jong of Gyeongnam scored an additional goal. Eventually, Gyeongnam achieved the victory.
